Research Progress in Duck Tembusu Virus Disease

    • Duck Tembusu virus(DTMUV)disease has been an epidemic in China since 2010. The disease can cause a substantial decrease in egg laying and growth retardation even death, and has caused large economic loss to the duck industry in China. Since the first outbreak, DTMUV has spread to most of duck-producing regions in China and Southeast Asia. The DTMUV has wide host ranges, including ducks, geese, chickens, sparrows and even mammals, and it has a potential threat to public health. In recent years, great progresses have been made in studies on epidemiology, the interaction between DTMUV and host, and vaccine development. This review describes the research progress in DTMUV regarding etiology, epidemic characteristics, innate immune responses to DTMUV infection and vaccine research so as to provide references for the in-depth study of DTMUV and the integrated prevention and control of such disease.
